Inventory Control Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Examine, research, and process inventory adjustments to address discrepancies between system records and physical counts.

• Investigate the underlying causes of variances and propose corrective measures.

• Collaborate with warehouse, fulfillment, and finance teams to ensure that adjustments are accurately documented and authorized.

• Organize and lead scheduled cycle counts and complete physical inventories across company warehouse locations.

• Coordinate counting schedules, staffing, and procedures with warehouse management.

• Reconcile physical count results with system records and post authorized adjustments in NetSuite.

• Analyze count accuracy and shrinkage trends by location; report findings and suggest corrective actions.

• Maintain documented cycle count procedures and ensure adherence to company policies.

• Audit and tidy virtual warehouse/bin locations.

• Identify and merge or deactivate duplicate, obsolete, or incorrectly labeled system locations.

• Establish and uphold naming conventions and organizational standards for warehouse locations.

• Align the physical location structure with system configuration.

• Create, process, and oversee assembly orders for production and fulfillment.

• Ensure accurate recording of component consumption and finished-goods receipts.

• Troubleshoot and resolve errors, holds, and discrepancies related to assembly orders.

• Coordinate with planning and operations teams to prioritize and schedule assembly orders.

• Conduct regular inventory data audits to identify and rectify system errors, duplicate SKUs, and outdated records.

• Maintain master data for inventory, units of measure, and location attributes.

• Develop and document standard operating procedures for inventory control and system maintenance.

• Generate and analyze inventory reports to monitor accuracy, highlight trends, and support decision-making.

• Identify enhancements in inventory processes and system workflows and assist in their implementation.

• Support the Director of Inventory Planning with various projects and analyses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 2 years of experience in inventory control, preferably in apparel, retail, or consumer goods.

• Advanced proficiency in NetSuite, with hands-on experience managing inventory adjustments, location records, and assembly orders.

• Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.

• Exceptional attention to detail and comfort working with large datasets to identify discrepancies and trends.

• Strong organizational skills and a process-improvement mindset; capable of bringing structure to ambiguous or disorganized data.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across warehouse, planning, and finance teams.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Preference will be given to applicants residing in the Detroit Metro or Columbus Metro Areas.

• Experience in apparel or fashion inventory management, including size/color/style-level SKU structures.

• Familiarity with warehouse management concepts such as bin/location logic, cycle counting, and kitting/assembly processes.

• Experience in writing or maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
