Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering – State, Local, Educational (SLED) Majors

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Recruit, onboard, mentor, and retain the Solutions Engineering team.

• Define technical quality benchmarks for demonstrations, trial plans, site evaluations, and client-facing documentation.

• Manage Solutions Engineering capacity and resource distribution for the East majors segment.

• Take ownership of technical successes across the East majors portfolio, including multi-site and citywide initiatives.

• Act as the senior technical escalation point for critical pursuits, deployments, and customer challenges.

• Collaborate with Sales leadership on pipeline management, forecasting, account planning, and land-and-expand strategies.

• Ensure site assessment quality and validate dock locations prior to deployment.

• Establish standards for proofs of concept linked to active opportunities and quantifiable operational value.

• Oversee integrations and airspace strategy concerning CAD, dispatch, video and evidence management, streaming platforms, BVLOS approvals, waivers, COAs, and docked operations.

• Stay informed about public sector procurement processes, cooperative contracts, grant-funded initiatives, and public sector purchasing timelines.

• Advocate for the collective customer perspective to Product and Engineering teams.

• Develop enablement content, reference architectures, and reusable technical resources.

• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge through regular hands-on experience.

• Report directly to the Director of Solutions Engineering – SLED.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant technical experience, including customer-facing roles in solutions engineering, field engineering, or applications engineering.

• At least 1 year of experience leading a technical team, either formally or as a technical lead with hiring and mentorship responsibilities.

• Profound understanding of drone technology, Public Safety sUAS operations, and regulatory compliance.

• Familiarity with Drone as First Responder operational concepts and dock-based remote operations.

• Practical knowledge of Public Safety technologies, including CAD, VMS, and associated software platforms.

• Proven track record in hiring, onboarding, developing, and retaining technical personnel.

• Experience working within a Sales organization, including responsibility for quota and deal strategy.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.

• Capability to lift up to 60 lbs without assistance.

• It is highly encouraged for all Skydio employees to obtain FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days, and it is a requirement for certain positions.

• Previous experience in public safety service, Drone as First Responder programs, familiarity with grant funding/cooperative purchasing, Salesforce, Palantir, Databricks, and technical team scaling is a plus.
