Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Order Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct multiple software engineering teams.

• Establish and advance the technical strategy and roadmap for engineering divisions.

• Work in partnership with product leadership and stakeholders to synchronize priorities and guarantee delivery.

• Facilitate the planning, execution, and prompt delivery of intricate software solutions and features.

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to outline and prioritize the product backlog.

• Advocate for engineering and agile best practices, operational excellence, and continual improvement.

• Guide and mentor software engineers through coaching, constructive feedback, and developmental opportunities.

• Manage resources and recruitment while ensuring financial accountability.

• Propel technical decision-making and scalable architectural selections.

• Set and track KPIs for engineering quality, productivity, and delivery.

• Relay strategy, progress, and challenges to senior leadership.

• Spearhead the modernization of the core Order Management System towards a cloud-native, event-driven architecture.

• Collaborate with Product, Retail, Supply Chain, and Fulfillment leadership to facilitate high-volume transactions and omni-channel experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• More than 3 years in a management position supervising multiple teams or a major engineering function.

• At least 5 years of practical experience in developing, scaling, and maintaining enterprise-grade Order Management Systems.

• Familiarity with IBM Sterling OMS, Blue Yonder, Manhattan Active Omni, or custom microservices OMS.

• Experience with BOPIS, Ship-from-Store, curbside pickup, and reverse logistics.

• Proficient in cloud-native applications using AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Knowledge of event-driven architecture using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or EventBridge.

• Experience with REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices patterns.

• Comprehensive understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and modern engineering practices at scale.

• Strong leadership and organizational management skills, including experience managing managers or multiple intricate teams.

• Strategic thinking capabilities, project management, and execution expertise.

• Solid technical knowledge and the ability to steer architectural decisions.

• Experience in resource planning, budget management, and strategic hiring.

• Familiarity with cloud technologies, scalable architectures, and DevOps principles.

• Strong business insight and the ability to translate business needs into technical strategies.

• Understanding of financial considerations in decision-making.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proven ability to lead and deliver large-scale, complex software projects in an agile setting.

• Experience in managing and developing software engineers.

• Direct experience in leading a legacy-to-cloud OMS modernization or SaaS migration without business disruption.

• In-depth understanding of payments integration, tax processing, and financial ledger reconciliation within the order lifecycle.
