Senior Manager, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of engineering outcomes across PatientPoint’s device product areas, including field operations tooling, exam-room technology, waiting-room displays, and back-office systems.

• Oversee senior Engineering Leads and individual-contributor engineers, focusing on hiring, performance evaluation, and career advancement.

• Assume technical-direction responsibilities as required.

• Maintain close engagement with the codebase, lead code reviews, contribute directly, and promote technical best practices.

• Advocate for AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices, as well as AI-enhanced product capabilities.

• Coordinate priorities and dependencies across three or more concurrently active product areas.

• Participate in cross-organization architecture discussions, including ARB/RFCs.

• Support engineers and Engineering Leads in their professional growth and career pathways.

• Collaborate with Product and Design leaders on execution.

• Manage a blended team of onshore and offshore full-time and contract engineers.

• Raise organizational, staffing, and resource requirements to engineering leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing engineers or engineering teams.

• Recent hands-on technical involvement within the last 1-2 years.

• Current hands-on expertise in native Android development using Kotlin and contemporary Android development practices.

• Familiarity with AOSP, custom Android ROMs, rooted or kiosk-mode Android devices, APK distribution, or Android OS upgrade programs.

• Experience in developing Android device platforms beyond traditional consumer mobile applications.

• Proficiency in Java, in addition to Kotlin.

• Competence in JavaScript or TypeScript along with React-based front-end development.

• Experience in developing software for connected, managed, or remotely deployed devices.

• Proven track record of leading engineers across multiple concurrent products, workstreams, or technical domains.

• Experience in managing and developing engineers, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and career growth.

• Strong understanding of constraints associated with deployed devices, such as limited memory, storage, or processing capabilities; intermittent connectivity; remote software updates; and various hardware or OS generations.

• Experience in supporting remotely deployed device fleets, including staged releases, fleet-health monitoring, remote troubleshooting, and software update or rollback strategies.

• Familiarity with backend technologies that support device fleets, such as Kotlin/JVM services, Node.js, serverless architectures, or similar microservice environments.

• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar applications.

• Working knowledge of cloud-based services and APIs that support connected-device applications.

• Experience managing blended teams of full-time employees and contractors.

• Candidates will undergo a coding assessment as part of the interview process.
