This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +4 more states.
• Oversee the formulation and implementation of Cando’s railcar mechanical strategy.
• Create and uphold comprehensive railcar mechanical standards, policies, and procedures across the company.
• Foster relationships with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry collaborators.
• Drive initiatives by setting objectives, securing necessary equipment, developing procedures, and establishing timelines.
• Assess customer satisfaction while identifying service requirements and operational efficiencies.
• Contribute to the development of strategies and plans aimed at expanding mechanical services.
• Design mechanical training programs that encompass safety, equipment handling, and regulatory compliance.
• Execute and uphold safety systems alongside regulatory compliance programs.
• Perform reviews and audits of safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Evaluate rail equipment failures and implement necessary corrective measures.
• Create site-specific operational solutions that cater to local demands.
• Promote operational excellence in asset utilization, personnel management, safety, and adherence to regulations.
• Set annual budgets and oversee material inventory throughout the Cando system.
• Manage capital and maintenance budgets while identifying equipment and maintenance requirements.
• Oversee railcar asset deployment, including procurement, refurbishment, and upgrades.
• Stay informed on industry news, trends, and regulations, developing adaptive strategies.
• At least ten (10) years of experience in a management role with comprehensive responsibility for multiple sites or service offerings.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, business, or engineering, or equivalent experience in the industry.
• Proven track record in fostering safety and service-oriented cultures and building strong teams.
• Familiarity with Safety Management Systems.
• Extensive knowledge of railcar fleet maintenance, repair management, equipment loading, quality assurance, and inventory systems.
• Experience in railway or systems management is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated history of entrepreneurial leadership.
• Exceptional relationship management abilities.
• Capacity to develop and articulate clear, concise strategies that enhance and expand operations.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to collaborate across the organization and industry.
• Proficient in participating in operations while managing multiple customer relationships.

• Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of business profitability and long-term viability.
• Proficient in computer skills within a Windows-based environment, including internet and MS Office applications.
