This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead the analysis of portfolios, track performance, and benchmark across the R&D portfolio.
• Own and enhance Amgen’s Probability of Technical and Regulatory Success (PTRS) process.
• Facilitate enterprise-level PTRS evaluations in collaboration with Product Teams and cross-functional experts.
• Develop PTRS methodologies, standards, benchmarks, guardrails, governance cadence, and documentation.
• Oversee PTRS and risk-assessment tools, data products, evidence workflows, dashboards, and decision-support capabilities.
• Collaborate with Product Teams to evaluate risks across product profiles, indications, populations, biomarker strategies, and clinical development options.
• Facilitate discussions based on evidence and clarify assumptions, risks, trade-offs, and decision criteria.
• Support portfolio reviews, prioritization, and investment decisions.
• Lead tracking of portfolio performance and participation in industry benchmarks across development KPIs.
• Provide decision-ready insights for Product Teams, Governance, and senior leadership.
• Ensure consistency across PTRS, valuation, planning, and governance assumptions.
• Utilize historical outcomes, internal performance trends, and external benchmarks to refine assessments and enhance decision quality.
• Collaborate with Technology, Research, Development, Product Teams, and other cross-functional partners.
• Doctorate degree with 2 years of experience in R&D portfolio management, portfolio analytics, life sciences, or management consulting, or leading decision analysis initiatives; OR
• Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience; OR
• Associate’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience; OR
• High school diploma/GED with 12 years of relevant experience.
• An advanced degree in business, life sciences, medicine, statistics, decision sciences, or a related field is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in relevant R&D portfolio management, portfolio analytics, life sciences, management consulting, or decision analysis initiatives is preferred.
• Familiarity with decision analysis methodologies and probabilistic modeling techniques, such as decision trees, Monte Carlo simulation, and risk modeling.
• Experience in facilitating PTRS, probability of success, or similar development risk assessments with cross-functional subject matter experts.
• Comprehensive understanding of the entire drug development process and the scientific, clinical, regulatory, CMC, operational, and competitive risk factors involved.
• Comfortable utilizing AI-enabled tools and analytical capabilities for evidence synthesis, risk assessment, insight development, and decision support.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
