Senior Manager – Platform Engineering, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and implement the H100 platform engineering roadmap in alignment with enterprise priorities and program milestones.

• Lead the delivery of GCP-based platform functionalities, including GKE, networking, IAM, CI/CD, and observability.

• Develop and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and ADR compliance.

• Ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory requirements, including SOC2 and HIPAA.

• Collaborate with client stakeholders and cross-functional teams in areas such as security, networking, and applications.

• Provide status updates, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies.

• Manage dependencies across teams and delivery streams.

• Serve as the technical and delivery point of contact for platform-related discussions.

• Oversee the implementation of GCP landing zone components, including resource hierarchy, IAM, and networking.

• Facilitate the adoption of GitOps models and CI/CD frameworks like Config Sync, ArgoCD, and GitHub Actions.

• Monitor platform SLOs and operational metrics, including uptime, MTTR, and deployment frequency.

• Identify risks, capacity constraints, and opportunities for improvement.

• Lead incident response and escalation management, including conducting post-mortems.

• Ensure the availability of runbooks, documentation, and operational procedures.

• Support SRE practices and models for production readiness.

• Maintain platform reliability and operational stability.

• Lead a team of engineers, including full-time employees and contractors.

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance direction to team members.

• Encourage knowledge sharing and onboarding for contractor teams.

• Foster continuous improvement and accountability.

• Identify chances for automation and platform optimization.

• Assist in the integration of AI-driven operations and intelligent tooling.

• Evaluate tools for enhancing cloud security posture and DevOps efficiency.

• Promote modern platform engineering practices.

• Manage sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and Agile execution.

• Oversee resource allocation and contractor utilization.

• Track SOW deliverables, milestones, and dependencies.

• Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and capacity.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE.

• 4+ years of experience in team leadership, management, or technical lead roles, overseeing mid-sized teams of 5 to 10 engineers.

• 3+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), covering GKE, IAM, networking, and monitoring.

• 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes and container-based systems.

• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.

• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform, KCC, and Kustomize.

• 4+ years of experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and sprint execution.

• 4+ years of experience in incident management and operational support utilizing SRE practices.

• 4+ years of experience with cross-team coordination and stakeholder communication.

• 1+ years of experience with AI-driven operations or automation frameworks.

• 3+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, load balancing, firewalls, DNS, hybrid connectivity, and secure application communication.

• 3+ years of experience in support/production environments and periodic on-call rotations.

• 3+ years of experience with SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, Cloud Spanner, or Kafka.

• Ability to manage delivery within structured programs involving multiple dependencies.

• Experience in regulated industries, such as healthcare.

• Certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master (CSM), or SAFe.

• GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification.

• Familiarity with cloud security tools like Wiz and SCC.

• Familiarity with networking/security platforms such as Palo Alto and F5.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• High school diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience as an alternative to the bachelor's degree.
