This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.
• Oversee and manage essential business processes within Qualus’ standard ownership domains.
• Lead, train, coordinate, and supervise overhead transmission engineering operations.
• Act as the functional leader for the service line.
• Manage the financial aspects of the service line.
• Foster relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Implement engineering best practices.
• Design and deliver training programs for service line employees.
• Collaborate with other service lines to bid on and complete projects, engage in cross-training, and share best practices.
• Offer technical guidance to engineering teams and senior management.
• Establish goals and strategies that align with organizational objectives.
• Create and prepare drawing packages for bidding, construction, as-built, and submittal purposes.
• Ensure the service line is equipped with the necessary software, hardware, and field tools.
• Develop and enhance the company vision for the service line.
• Promote employee satisfaction and engagement.
• Enhance cost efficiency.
• Assist in the development and preparation of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Stay updated on regulations, laws, standards, and best practices, including Standards of Conduct, RUS Design Guidelines, the National Electric Safety Code, and General Order 95.
• Provide technical direction and support as needed.
• Establish engineering policies and practices for implementation across the company.
• Ensure compliance with QA/QC policies.
• Support business development initiatives and pursuit activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience, preferably in utility infrastructure design.
• At least three (3) years of management experience leading engineering teams.
• In-depth knowledge of engineering design for the service line and related fields.
• Advanced proficiency in applicable design software.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices, including computer applications.
• Extensive familiarity with field techniques for construction.
• Comprehensive knowledge of surveying techniques, practices, and procedures.
• Thorough understanding of safe working practices related to electric transmission lines.
• Deep knowledge of project management practices and financials.
• Advanced skills in standard business applications, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels and relevant stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to transition from planning to execution.
• Strong team player, willing to seek input from others.
• Capacity to plan and complete tasks within established timelines successfully.
• Proficient in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions at both strategic and functional levels.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% annually.
