This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and convey a clear vision for data science within Growth Algorithms.
• Convert goals related to acquisition, activation, retention, and reactivation into a targeted portfolio.
• Serve as a collaborative partner across Product, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Design, and Enterprise Analytics teams.
• Define ownership and best practices for experimentation, product analytics, AI/ML measurement, and decision support.
• Elevate the standards for experimental design and interpretation.
• Transform uncertainty and trade-offs into actionable recommendations.
• Direct strategy for Next Best Action, lifecycle personalization, predictive value, CRM and paid media, onboarding funnel, and incentives.
• Question historical limitations and introduce innovative technical, analytical, product, or operational methods.
• Make informed portfolio decisions by consolidating overlapping capabilities, discontinuing low-value initiatives, minimizing legacy complexity, and concentrating efforts on high-impact opportunities.
• Oversee full-stack data scientists through opportunity sizing, experiment or model design, production deployment, measurement, monitoring, on-call duties, and incident response.
• Collaborate with Engineering to ensure reliable systems.
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing team rooted in ownership, open feedback, curiosity, kindness, and ongoing learning.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field is required; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
• Over 5 years of experience utilizing machine learning, experimentation, and causal inference to address business challenges.
• At least 2 years of experience in a technical team lead or direct management role.
• Extensive practical knowledge in experimental design and interpretation, encompassing metric design, statistical power, sources of bias, and decision-making amid uncertainty.
• Experience in defining analytics ownership, decision rights, and best practices across Data Science, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Analytics teams.
• Proven ability to craft a compelling data science strategy and implement it into a focused portfolio.
• A willingness to question assumptions, streamline complex systems or processes, and cease or consolidate lower-value tasks.
• Technical proficiency in analysis, experimentation, machine learning, system design, and high-quality production Python coding.
• Exceptional communication skills for conveying evidence, uncertainty, trade-offs, and recommendations to executives, business partners, and technical stakeholders.
• Sound judgment regarding traditional machine learning, generative AI, AI-assisted development, and ad hoc analytical methodologies.
