This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +7 more states.
• Oversee the comprehensive global payroll operating model for employees, contractors, EORs, PEOs, and local service providers.
• Lead and nurture a team of 2–3 direct reports while upholding execution discipline and maintaining high operational standards.
• Direct the operational management of employee equity within Shareworks, including grant processing, data updates, and multi-departmental reconciliation.
• Identify and implement automated workflows to reduce manual data transfers, recurring exceptions, and data friction.
• Collaborate with HR Technology, IT, and Finance to enhance payroll platform integrations and improve system reliability.
• Enhance compliance protocols, payroll controls, and documentation to safeguard the business against financial risks and ensure audit preparedness.
• Create clear processing calendars, accountability metrics, and data scorecards to evaluate function accuracy and capacity improvements.
• Address complex tax, equity, and market-specific payroll issues to facilitate prompt cross-functional resolutions.
• Global Payroll Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing multi-country payroll operations, particularly within EOR, PEO, and local provider frameworks.
• Equity Administration Expertise: Direct experience with equity platforms like Shareworks, including the management of grant lifecycles and intricate equity tax coordination.
• Systems & Automation Focus: Proven history of designing HRIS integrations, streamlining workflows, and purposefully eliminating manual touchpoints in financial operations.
• Controls & Compliance Rigor: Extensive knowledge of payroll controls, financial audit readiness, and tax implications in a high-growth technology or fintech environment.
• Player-Coach Capability: Proven ability to manage and develop a remote operational team while also serving as a hands-on technical expert.
• Commercial & Analytical Mindset: Skill in translating complex operational patterns into clear, data-driven decisions that enhance company-wide scaling efficiency.
