This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct MZLA’s finance division, encompassing accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and finance operations.
• Lead and nurture the finance team, setting priorities, defining responsibilities, establishing review practices, and ensuring accountability.
• Supervise monthly and annual closings, financial reporting, reconciliations, accounting policies, and internal controls.
• Manage accounting and revenue recognition related to donations, subscriptions, enterprise agreements, partnerships, and various revenue sources.
• Spearhead annual budgeting, forecasting, long-term financial planning, and scenario analysis.
• Create management reports and visualizations that showcase trends, risks, trade-offs, and decision-making processes.
• Handle tax, audit, indirect tax, VAT/GST, corporate filings, and collaboration with external advisors.
• Assess financial, tax, accounting, and operational impacts of new jurisdictions or entities.
• Establish financial reporting, reconciliation, and control processes for partner-led commercial agreements with Enterprise Partnerships and Legal.
• Manage financial reporting to MZLA’s parent organization and associated Mozilla entities.
• Maintain financial oversight of payroll across various providers in collaboration with the People team.
• Enhance finance systems and workflows, including accounting, expense management, payment-platform reconciliation, documentation, and automation.
• Oversee cash-flow planning, treasury, banking, and investment operations.
• Advise organizational leaders by translating intricate financial data into straightforward recommendations.
• 15+ years of relevant professional experience, with progressively responsible roles across accounting, financial planning and analysis, and finance operations.
• Significant experience in accounting or controllership, including accountability for U.S. GAAP financial reporting, closing processes, internal controls, revenue recognition, and complex accounting judgments.
• 5+ years of experience managing people in a finance or accounting setting.
• Proven track record of enhancing budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial data visualization, along with the ability to convert complex information into clear insights and recommendations for non-finance leaders.
• Substantial experience with subscription, SaaS, digital product, enterprise, or similar technology-driven revenue models.
• Experience in supporting partner-led commercial arrangements, which includes assessing financial terms and developing or supervising related reporting, reconciliation, controls, and revenue-recognition processes.
• Familiarity with merchant-of-record arrangements, payment platforms, indirect tax, and international VAT/GST regulations.
• Background in supporting an internationally distributed organization and managing financial obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee tax, audit, and other external finance obligations while effectively managing external advisors.
• Experience overseeing cash management, treasury, banking, and organizational investment activities.
• History of improving financial systems, workflows, documentation, and controls.
• Strong judgment and comfort transitioning between leadership, detailed financial analysis, hands-on problem-solving, and organization-wide decision support.
• Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Regular working-hour overlap with North American time zones; candidates located elsewhere in the United States should ensure substantial overlap.
