Senior Manager, Environment & Sustainability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement comprehensive environmental and sustainability strategies, objectives, and performance metrics across the enterprise.

• Recognize emerging trends, risks, and opportunities related to sustainability, climate change, resource management, and environmental stewardship.

• Propel continuous improvement initiatives that enhance environmental performance and contribute to business success.

• Offer strategic guidance on environmental and sustainability matters to executive leadership and business stakeholders.

• Formulate policies, standards, and governance processes for sustainability projects.

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and international environmental regulations and standards.

• Evaluate environmental risks and create strategies for mitigation.

• Oversee environmental audits, inspections, corrective action plans, and compliance reporting.

• Manage the collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental and sustainability data.

• Supervise ESG disclosures and the reporting processes associated with them.

• Spearhead initiatives focused on greenhouse gas reduction, energy management, waste minimization, water stewardship, pollution prevention, and circular economy principles.

• Set performance targets, track progress, and execute action plans.

• Collaborate with various departments including operations, facilities, procurement, legal, finance, and human resources.

• Act as the organization’s representative with regulators, industry associations, clients, consultants, community groups, and other external stakeholders.

• Manage departmental budgets, sustainability expenditures, consultants, contractors, and third-party providers.

• Recruit, develop, mentor, and evaluate personnel in the environmental and sustainability fields as necessary.

• Stay informed on environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, technologies, and industry advancements.

• Support strategic business initiatives and organizational priorities related to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Resources, Environmental Management, Industrial Engineering, Public Policy, or a related discipline is required.

• A master's degree in a related field is preferred.

• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management, sustainability, ESG, environmental compliance, or related areas.

• A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in managing environmental or sustainability programs, teams, or enterprise initiatives.

• Experience in developing and executing sustainability strategies within complex, multi-site organizations is preferred.

• Proven success in leading cross-functional projects and influencing stakeholders at all organizational tiers.

• Experience in managing environmental compliance programs and regulatory interactions is preferred.

• Familiarity with developing ESG reports and sustainability disclosures is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and sustainability principles.

• Strong understanding of ESG reporting frameworks, sustainability metrics, and performance measurement systems.

• Knowledge of climate risk assessment, greenhouse gas accounting, energy management, waste reduction, and resource conservation programs.

• Capability to formulate and execute strategic plans aligned with business priorities.

• Strong project and program management skills.

• Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting.

• Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while facilitating collaboration across geographically dispersed teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and software applications related to sustainability, environmental, and reporting.
