Senior Manager – Energy Credits

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver tax equity investment consulting services for clients.

• Lead and expand a team with expertise in industry deals and modeling.

• Develop Cherry Bekaert’s renewable energy practice.

• Provide guidance on Inflation Reduction Act energy credits and the post-OB3 credit framework.

• Assist with credit transferability transactions under Section 6418.

• Offer advice on the Direct Pay regime as outlined in Section 6417.

• Conduct eligible basis substantiation and support cost segregation.

• Analyze credit adders and enhancers, including aspects like prevailing wage and apprenticeship, domestic content, and energy community qualifications.

• Evaluate Foreign Entity of Concern regulations and risks related to credit recapture.

• Implement general tax equity transaction mechanics.

• Enhance market presence through webinars and published articles.

• Collaborate with core tax partners to present credit transfer opportunities.

• Partner with external brokers and firms providing available tax credits in the transferability market.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in tax planning services or in preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field.

• Familiarity with HLBV accounting concepts.

• CPA certification or in the process of obtaining it, or an enrolled agent, or other relevant credential.

• Proficient in financial modeling.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

• Prior experience with a Big 4 firm.

• Experience in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Understanding of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.

• Basic knowledge of Subchapter K and investment partnership taxation.

• Familiarity with tax equity investment structures.

• Understanding of investment and production tax credits related to wind, solar, and biomass projects.

• Eligibility to work in the United States.
