Senior Manager, Digital Content Strategy – Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.

📋 Description

• Oversee the content strategy and project management for the redesign and re-platforming of the organizational website.

• Direct the content discovery, strategy formulation, information architecture, migration, localization, multilingual needs, implementation, quality assurance, launch, and post-launch optimization.

• Convert complex initiatives into comprehensive strategies, work plans, milestones, dependencies, requirements, ownership, and subsequent steps.

• Create processes for stakeholder engagement in content planning, review, migration, and implementation.

• Manage timelines, deliverables, dependencies, risks, resources, and stakeholder evaluations; escalate issues and eliminate obstacles.

• Collaborate with UX, design, technology, SEO, analytics, marketing, product, engagement, and business stakeholders.

• Develop and assess content briefs that align with brand and digital best practices.

• Assist with multilingual and Spanish-language content needs alongside translation partners.

• Oversee the complete content process for RedCrossBlood.org, the Blood Donor App, and other digital assets.

• Formulate and implement content strategies aimed at boosting blood donation appointments, engagement, and lead generation.

• Direct promotional content across web and app platforms, including homepage experiences, campaign placements, in-app promotions, badges, feature announcements, and terms and conditions.

• Assess digital content requests based on user needs, customer journeys, UX, SEO, accessibility, platform capabilities, and conversion best practices.

• Design user journeys, wireframes, page structures, component requirements, and digital experiences.

• Enhance content for SEO and the optimization of emerging answer-engine/AI search (AEO).

• Identify enhancements for web and app, including deep linking, journey optimization, and personalization.

• Write, edit, or oversee content development.

• Establish key performance indicators, reporting dashboards, and regular performance reporting.

• Transform analytics into actionable insights, recommendations, and prioritized tasks.

• Lead digital content accessibility initiatives and coordinate content audits.

• Develop governance frameworks, workflows, templates, documentation, and operational processes.

• Report to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of education and experience in communications, marketing, English, digital media, business, or a related discipline.

• 6-10+ years of pertinent experience in digital marketing, digital experience, content strategy, web, digital product, content operations, or similar fields.

• Proven experience leading intricate web or digital initiatives from strategy through to implementation, launch, and optimization.

• Experience in managing cross-functional digital programs that involve multiple stakeholder groups and influencing results without direct authority.

• Familiarity with content management systems; experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is strongly preferred.

• Strong comprehension of digital content strategy and best practices, including UX, information architecture, SEO, accessibility, content structure, imagery, and conversion.

• Capability to create digital content, including copywriting, selecting imagery, and envisioning page content alongside user actions or experiences.

• Experience utilizing web analytics and performance data to guide digital strategy and optimization; proficiency in Adobe Analytics is preferred.

• Outstanding project management, organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a complex, matrixed organization and foster alignment across functions.

• Self-motivated; this position is fully remote.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

• Education and general experience can be combined to meet requirements; management experience cannot be substituted.
