Senior Manager, Data Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete delivery process for client projects that involve moderate to high levels of technical and organizational complexity.

• Act as the primary engagement lead and main point of contact for clients.

• Guide the discovery phase and define problems across various workstreams.

• Convert client visions and business needs into both technical and analytical specifications.

• Develop roadmaps aligned with client business objectives, urgencies, and anticipated impacts.

• Assess client readiness for AI, data quality, governance, semantic layer maturity, reporting, and BI requirements.

• Prepare and present project status updates to stakeholders and executives, both internally and externally.

• Create data-solution positioning strategies, encompassing partnerships, proposals, client extensions, and revenue-generating opportunities.

• Submit staffing requests to ensure the right delivery teams are in place.

• Design client data architectures and provide recommendations on infrastructure and tools.

• Collaborate with technical leadership on intricate architectural decisions while managing routine decisions independently.

• Oversee cross-team dependencies, escalation paths, and developer support across various workstreams.

• Take responsibility for delivery governance across multiple workstreams and client engagements.

• Manage project timelines, team workloads, sprint boards, backlogs, planning, and retrospectives.

• Drive project delivery within budget, schedule, and scope, ensuring client satisfaction at all times.

• Identify, monitor, and mitigate issues and risks proactively.

• Define and shape account growth, extensions, change orders, and assessments of AI readiness.

• May instruct or mentor other managers on Agile objectives, planning, and execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in independently leading complex and extensive data projects.

• Proficient project management skills, including experience developing and implementing Agile and other frameworks.

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creativity skills.

• In-depth knowledge of the modern data stack and its components, including integration with non-modern data technologies.

• Familiarity with how AI and agentic workflows utilize data, including semantic layers.

• Practical experience as an analyst, analytics engineer, data engineer, or in a similar role.

• Highly organized and process-driven.

• Willingness to travel to client sites occasionally, up to 10% of the time.

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of potential clients.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

• Intermediate proficiency with data ingestion SaaS like Fivetran or Stitch.

• Intermediate proficiency with massively parallel processing data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.

• Intermediate proficiency with data transformation tools such as dbt or SQLMesh.

• Intermediate proficiency with cloud-forward BI platforms like Tableau, Sigma, or Looker.
