Senior Manager, Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, oversee, and enhance data and business intelligence platforms.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to collect requirements and establish data solution architecture.

• Construct and implement data pipeline solutions, encompassing ETL pipelines, data models, and monitoring controls.

• Facilitate the comprehensive delivery of data architecture and pipeline solutions through planning, requirements gathering, design, development, and testing.

• Design and refine the semantic layer to serve as a governed single source of truth for business intelligence.

• Design and implement a data quality framework that includes monitoring, alerting, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, resolution, impact assessments, and sizing evaluations.

• Oversee and continuously enhance data architecture and pipelines, integrating monitoring standards and operational controls.

• Direct Tableau BI platform management, including updates, enhancements, maintenance, and communication with stakeholders.

• Ensure the availability, performance, security, operations, and governance standards of the BI platform.

• Establish foundational AI-enabled analytics capabilities within the BI platform.

• Lead communication and execute project plans across Analytics, Application Development, Data Collection Strategy & Operations, IT Operations, Product Management, and Regional Data Systems & Strategy teams.

• Oversee sprint planning, execution, and release deliveries.

• Monitor progress, risks, and dependencies while resolving any blockers.

• Mentor team members in developing data and BI solutions, ensuring validation, quality checks, and up-to-date documentation.

• Manage and mentor one or more full-time employees or contractors through clear expectations, feedback, and coaching.

• Report directly to the Senior Director of Data Management and Governance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in data engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a closely related technical field.

• Proficient in SQL-based data platforms, such as SQL Server.

• Experience with contemporary cloud-based data warehouse/lakehouse platforms like Fabric/OneLake, Snowflake, or Databricks.

• Proven experience in building and managing ETLs/pipelines.

• Experience in managing and mentoring data engineers.

• Strong technical skills in SSIS, Spark, PySpark, and SQL.

• Demonstrated expertise in managing Tableau infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, along with operations.

• Familiar with version control and CI/CD workflows utilizing Git and platforms like Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.

• Preferred experience with SQL Server and MS Fabric/OneLake.

• Bachelor’s degree in data engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline is preferred.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Knowledge and skills in managing and architecting on-prem and cloud-based data platforms.

• Understanding of CI/CD, ETL/data pipelines, version control, agile sprint operations, project management tools, and machine learning principles.
