Senior Lead Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Create and deliver level-of-effort assessments for modifications to Insights applications.

• Produce high-quality updates to application source code, processes, and architecture.

• Ensure fully tested code is delivered prior to production deployment as needed.

• Diagnose and resolve application bugs and issues.

• Collaborate with engineers to confirm that comprehensive platform changes fulfill business requirements.

• Suggest and execute improvements to optimize processes and enhance platform performance, availability, and functionality.

• Assist in developing project plans and capability roadmaps.

• Keep up-to-date documentation of system and solution designs.

• Provide training to internal functional subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders.

• Offer technical leadership to engineers focused on data solutions.

• Convert business and analytical needs into dependable, scalable, production-quality data solutions.

• Design, construct, deploy, and manage data pipelines, services, and applications.

• Establish technical standards, architectural patterns, and operational practices.

• Create data workflows, APIs, processing logic, and supporting infrastructure at scale.

• Collaborate closely with a Solution Architect and offer technical mentorship to Data Engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. work authorization is mandatory.

• A technical B.S. degree in math, engineering, computer science, or equivalent work experience.

• Strong foundation in computer science principles.

• Over 6 years of professional software development experience.

• More than 6 years of professional experience with Python and SQL.

• At least 6 years of experience with Cloud Technologies, such as Amazon Web Services.

• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Subversion, etc.).

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with problem-solving abilities.

• Quick learner with the ability to adapt rapidly.

• Capacity to work effectively within a driven, multi-discipline engineering and product team.

• Experience in an agile development environment and familiarity with Scrum is preferred.

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL is preferred.

• Experience with Data Build Tool (DBT) is preferred.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, such as CloudFormation, is preferred.

• Experience with UNIX-based operating systems is preferred.

• Familiarity with Snowflake, CloudFront, API Gateway/Lambda, ECS, Application Load Balancer, EC2, S3, VPC, and related technologies is preferred.

• Experience with Git is preferred.

• Background in analytics-driven applications is preferred.

• Knowledge of Healthcare Data EDI/FHIR standards is preferred.
