Principal Commercial Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Define the multi-year architectural strategy for MGM’s Lakehouse platform, encompassing compute, storage, orchestration, semantic layers, governance, and reliability.

• Design scalable solutions for high-volume datasets related to Gaming, Hospitality, Loyalty, and Marketing across real-time, batch, and federated environments.

• Establish data modeling standards in Marketing and Revenue Management, focusing on fact/event layers, dimensional schemas, KPIs, and unified semantic definitions.

• Drive the adoption of streaming pipelines, Delta Live Tables, feature stores, and ML observability.

• Manage the Marketing and Revenue Management semantic models and certified curated datasets.

• Set organizational standards for data quality, observability, SLAs/SLOs, and incident lifecycle management.

• Implement automated frameworks for schema drift detection, anomaly monitoring, and pipeline self-healing.

• Enhance Databricks workloads for performance and cost efficiency by utilizing ZORDER, OPTIMIZE, and workload isolation techniques.

• Mentor Senior and Staff Data Engineers and lead engineering councils.

• Collaborate with senior leadership, architects, data science, analytics, IT, and business stakeholders to design resilient, scalable, and reliable data systems that support real-time decision-making, advanced analytics, and AI/ML applications.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data platforms, distributed systems, or related areas.

• More than 5 years of experience architecting large-scale workloads in Databricks or equivalent Spark platforms.

• Expert-level experience in Databricks and Lakehouse architecture.

• Proficient in Python, PySpark, and SQL.

• In-depth knowledge of Unity Catalog governance and lineage.

• Proven track record in designing enterprise semantic layers and KPI standards.

• Experience in implementing enterprise data quality and observability frameworks.

• Preferred domain experience in Gaming, Hospitality, Loyalty, or Commercial Analytics.
