This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and enhance Renew Home's external communication across partner announcements, press releases, media events, podcasts, executive interviews, and social media platforms.
• Generate press coverage in energy trade media as well as leading financial and business publications.
• Sustain and nurture existing media relationships.
• Strategically plan and implement partner announcements and press releases from initial draft to coverage and necessary revisions.
• Establish and manage executive communications initiatives for the CEO and other top executives.
• Secure interviews, speaking opportunities, and podcast features.
• Provide coaching for leadership and other spokespeople for external engagements.
• Compile executive talking points and presentation outlines.
• Define communication roles within the company and identify visibility opportunities.
• Recognize and cultivate additional company spokespeople and thought leadership chances.
• Pursue podcasts and events that enhance Renew Home's reputation in the energy and smart home sectors.
• Oversee the strategy for the company's external social media channels.
• Direct the communications strategy for key company milestones and periods of growth.
• Create and implement crisis communication plans and prepare company representatives.
• Maintain a proactive and confident communication posture.
• Ensure alignment of external communications with executive leadership and senior stakeholders.
• Collaborate with go-to-market, product, policy, legal, and data teams.
• Set and achieve measurable KPIs for the effectiveness of external communications.
• Over 7 years of communications experience, particularly within the energy sector.
• Established relationships with energy trade media and top-tier financial/business journalists.
• Ability to engage with specific reporters and outlets rather than simply categories of coverage.
• Strong B2B editorial perspective.
• Experience assisting an early-stage or rapidly growing company in navigating significant growth milestones and managing external communications.
• Comfortable working in uncertain situations and adapting swiftly when approvals are delayed or plans shift.
• Exceptional writing and spokesperson abilities.
• Open to coaching and capable of coaching others.
• Proven tendency towards proactive storytelling with a keen awareness of risk management.
• Experience in establishing a communications function and overseeing agency support.
• Outstanding crisis communication skills, including rapid response, message formulation, and stakeholder management.
• Ability to collaborate closely with go-to-market, brand, product, policy, strategy, operations, and data analytics teams.
• A team-builder with a collaborative and energetic leadership approach.
• Sound judgment and meticulous attention to detail in confidential and high-pressure situations.
• Intellectual curiosity, self-driven, resourceful, with integrity and enthusiasm for building new initiatives.
• Low ego and a highly cooperative approach.
• Experience working with remote, distributed teams across various time zones.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without current or future immigration sponsorship.
• Target annual bonus of 20% of base salary.
