Senior Manager, Applied Science

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Oversee, guide, and cultivate a team of Applied Scientists.

• Convert intricate healthcare business and clinical challenges into scalable machine learning and data science solutions.

• Ensure the reliability, reproducibility, and safety of Clinical AI by validating solutions with methodological and statistical rigor.

• Collaborate with AI Engineering to scale solutions that produce significant healthcare impact.

• Work cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Product, Engineering, and platform teams.

• Articulate technical concepts, methodologies, and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Play a role in recruiting, onboarding, and nurturing team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD with 7+ years of experience or MS with 10+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or applied AI roles.

• At least 2+ years of experience in leading and managing technical teams.

• Proven experience utilizing both modern language models (agentic or non-agentic LLM) and classical ML techniques in a production environment.

• Strong expertise in statistical methods, experimental design, and model evaluation.

• Proficiency in Python along with experience in ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn).

• Familiarity with AWS.

• A demonstrated history of influencing decision-making by partnering with business functions and product teams to accurately identify problem statements, develop falsifiable hypotheses, and conduct thorough experimentation and analyses.

• Experience in transactional healthcare (e.g., Utilization Management, Payment Integrity, Risk Adjustment, Quality, Care Management, etc.) is a plus.

• Experience in driving process automation within a healthcare context using modern language models is a plus.

• Familiarity with applying retrieval and relational extraction methods to unstructured clinical notes and other patient history documentation is a plus.
