This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and nurture the Accounting Operations team — directly oversee a Senior Accountant and a Staff Accountant; provide coaching, prioritize tasks, enhance accountability, and foster growth opportunities.
• Manage the monthly closing process from start to finish — control the close calendar in Numeric, handle dependencies within the team and with cross-functional partners, coordinate with stakeholders across Finance and Accounting, and address timeline risks and obstacles that could affect the quality or timing of the close.
• Act as the primary operational reviewer for regular close reconciliations, journal entries, allocations, intercompany transactions, and other outputs produced by the Accounting Operations team — establishing clear expectations for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Propel automation and process enhancements — lead and prioritize automation projects related to cash matching, reconciliation efficiencies, journal entry automation, and process simplification. Utilize the complete toolset — including NetSuite, Numeric, Superhuman-built internal tools, and other AI resources — to minimize manual work and boost scalability.
• Assist with audit initiatives — participate in audit planning and preparation, coordinate auditor requests, compile and review supporting documents, resolve outstanding items, and act as a significant auditor-facing contact during the external audit.
• Advance and scale the closing process — improve existing process documentation, bolster operational resilience, and further lessen key-person dependencies within the team.
• Foster cross-functional collaborations within Finance and Accounting — work alongside Technical Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Tax, AP, Payroll, and Revenue & AR to ensure alignment in close, audit, and improvement efforts.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time at the Senior Manager level, with direct responsibility for monthly close in an international operational context.
• Experience in a rapidly growing, multi-entity company with revenues over $200M required; experience in technology firms is preferred.
• Direct experience in people management — coaching, prioritization, accountability, and development of Senior- and Staff-level accountants.
• Strong foundation in US GAAP, encompassing practical knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting and standard cost-allocation methods.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite and proficiency in a modern close management platform (Numeric, FloQast, BlackLine, or similar).
• Proven track record of leading automation and process improvement initiatives within an accounting function — practical use of AI tools aimed at operational scalability rather than experimentation.
• Extensive audit support experience — comfortable acting as one of the main auditor-facing contacts during an external audit.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work under tight timeframes in dynamic environments.
• Big 4 or national public accounting experience preferred; active or inactive CPA preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — capable of producing close summaries, audit responses, and process documentation that can be utilized by an executive audience with minimal edits.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal guidance, proactively manage tasks and priorities across multiple projects, analyze and execute work efficiently, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and succeed in fast-paced, results-oriented settings.
• Comprehensive health care (including a wide array of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits).
• Options for disability and life insurance.
• 401(k) and RRSP matching programs.
• Paid parental leave.
• 20 days of paid time off annually, 12 paid holidays each year, two floating holidays per year, and flexible sick leave.
• Generous stipends (including those for caregiving, pet care, wellness, home office setup, and more).
• Annual budget and opportunities for professional development.
