This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting operations.
• Direct annual financial statement audits and quarterly reviews, fostering relationships with external auditors.
• Manage monthly financial reporting along with quarterly and annual financial statements, including Workiva reporting.
• Lead research and implementation of technical accounting for complex and emerging transactions under US GAAP.
• Supervise stock-based compensation, equity administration, and accounting activities.
• Evaluate financial statements, General Ledger accounts, journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Take charge of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Guide, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Formulate accounting policies, internal controls, documentation, and reporting processes.
• Create scalable process improvements and advocate for responsible AI and automation integration.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, People Operations, Procurement, Engineering, and business leaders.
• Propel complex cross-functional accounting initiatives towards resolution.
• Establish high execution standards, influence priorities, develop talent, and take ownership within the Accounting department.
• Within 90 days, familiarize yourself with Virta’s accounting operations and systems, build cross-functional relationships, take charge of assigned GL processes, evaluate close and reconciliation procedures, implement quick wins, and earn credibility with the team.
• CPA certification is required.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Solid technical accounting background in General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, and US GAAP.
• Experience in navigating complex accounting issues.
• Proven track record in leading intricate monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes within a high-growth, public company, or a public-company-ready setting.
• Experience in building high-performing accounting teams.
• Strong business acumen and the capacity to independently resolve intricate accounting and operational challenges.
• Experience in enhancing accounting operations through technology, automation, process redesign, and scalable internal controls.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to foster cross-functional partnerships.
• Competence to operate with ownership and autonomy in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Workiva, or comparable ERP and financial reporting systems is preferred.
• Experience in applying AI-enabled tools and automation to accounting workflows is preferred.
• Background in high-growth healthcare, technology, or similarly complex industries is preferred.
• Ability to adhere to HIPAA-related security and privacy protocols.
