Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Private Search Quality

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Develop, assess, and enhance machine learning ranking models for private, team, and brand content searches.

• Enhance relevance and recall, especially for enterprise users.

• Focus on intelligent result interpretation, search recovery, and precise title matching.

• Contribute to indexing efforts utilizing ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, vector search, and annotation technologies.

• Expand the quality and reach of private and brand search to new platforms, including agent search.

• Investigate and address quality or relevance declines in live search environments.

• Manage scoped projects comprehensively, from defining the problem to achieving measurable improvements in search quality.

• Experiment and iterate based on insights gained.

• Collaborate effectively with Backend Engineers.

• Articulate technical trade-offs and disseminate knowledge throughout the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and deploying machine learning systems in production environments.

• Ideally experienced in search, ranking, learning-to-rank (LTR), or relevance.

• Proficient in defining and enhancing relevance, recall, and ranking-quality metrics.

• Capability to manage scoped projects from conception to measurable impact with minimal supervision.

• High level of autonomy and comfort in dealing with uncertainty.

• Familiarity with ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.

• Knowledge of vector search techniques.

• Experience in annotation processes.

• Proven track record in developing and refining machine learning ranking models.

• Ability to convey technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences.

• Willingness to share expertise with team members.
