This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
β’ Design large-scale platforms for data and document processing, encompassing everything from ingestion to downstream use.
β’ Develop robust methodologies for document parsing, extraction, normalization, validation, storage, searching, human review, and reprocessing.
β’ Set standards for schemas, metadata, lineage, provenance, data quality, reproducibility, and auditability.
β’ Create reliable ingestion and transformation pipelines utilizing APIs, files, batch processing, and streaming as necessary.
β’ Establish platform patterns that facilitate the transition of Data Science and AI prototypes into secure, maintainable production solutions.
β’ Design data and retrieval foundations that support RAG, analytics, AI workflows, evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
β’ Make architectural decisions considering scalability, reliability, security, privacy, costs, and operational complexities.
β’ Lead technical design reviews, troubleshoot production issues, mentor engineers, and collaborate with teams across Data Engineering, Data Science, DevOps/MLOps, Product, Security, and client relations.
β’ Review and create Python code, SQL scripts, schemas, APIs, and production data pipelines.
β’ Extensive experience in architecting and managing production data platforms or distributed data systems.
β’ Proficient in Python, SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT, workflow orchestration, and cloud data platforms.
β’ Considerable experience with unstructured data or large-scale document processing systems.
β’ Strong knowledge of metadata, schema evolution, lineage, provenance, data quality, observability, retries, replay, backfills, and recovery processes.
β’ Experience in designing systems with sensitive data controls, governance, access management, and auditing needs.
β’ Solid understanding of how contemporary AI/ML and retrieval systems rely on production data architecture.
β’ Proven technical judgment, ownership, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to challenge fragile or overly complex designs.
β’ Excellent technical communication and decision-making skills.
β’ Must be authorized to work in the United States and have resided in the US for three or more consecutive years.
β’ Must be willing and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
β’ Experience in sectors such as healthcare, life sciences, government, regulated industries, PHI/PII, or GDPR environments is advantageous but not mandatory.
