Senior Loss Control Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Perform designated underwriting surveys at both prospect and policyholder locations.

• Outline business operations, key employee injury/illness risks, and control measures.

• Assess workplace safety and health risks, including manual material handling, ergonomics, machinery and equipment, falls, motor vehicles, and occupational diseases.

• Review the effectiveness of safety and health programs for prospects and policyholders.

• Identify intricate engineering and administrative controls to mitigate workers’ compensation loss potential.

• Implement an evidence-based approach to safety and health services to recognize trends and prioritize the needs of policyholders.

• Create safety and health service plans and offer continuous consultation to designated service accounts.

• Formulate and present recommendations aimed at reducing employee injury/illness risks and lowering workers’ compensation expenses.

• Persuade decision-makers at policyholder organizations to adopt safety and health recommendations.

• Cultivate and sustain effective working relationships with policyholders and agencies.

• Generate reports for policyholders and internal stakeholders.

• Investigate significant workers’ compensation incidents.

• Coordinate safety and health services for both single- and multi-region policyholders.

• Develop and deliver training sessions for policyholders.

• Promote Zenith and the Safety & Health department.

• Adhere to departmental standards for work quality, productivity, and timely service.

• Utilize logical reasoning to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and formulate sound conclusions.

• Collaborate effectively and harmoniously with colleagues.

• Respond constructively to guidance and performance evaluations.

• Maintain a professional and appropriate demeanor at all times.

• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, science, or engineering is preferred, or equivalent work experience.

• Relevant work experience in a related field must be progressive and involve responsible insurance risk control or job-related safety services.

• Attainment of a safety or health-related master’s degree or significant progress towards one, or possession of at least one recognized professional designation such as CSP, ARM, or CIH is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in safety and health with a proven history of results is essential.

• Familiarity with property and casualty insurance agent and broker operations is preferred.

• Understanding of workers’ compensation insurance, including experience modification, underwriting, and claims processes.

• Knowledge of return-to-work program features and advantages is necessary.

• Strong comprehension of performance metrics for workers’ compensation insurance carriers and the financial implications for the Safety & Health department.

• Experience with insurance carriers is highly preferred.

• Basic knowledge of occupational medicine provider network features and benefits is a plus.

• Exemplary customer service skills are required.

• Strong time management capabilities are essential.

• Proficient communication, sales, and presentation skills are necessary.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other standard business software is required.

• Ability to learn and utilize proprietary Zenith systems is necessary.

• Proficient in operating computers and mobile communication devices.

• A valid driver’s license in good standing is required.

• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage changes positively is essential.

• Goal-oriented with a proven ability to deliver results in a timely fashion.
