Senior Legal Counsel, Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the legal partner for Product and Engineering across TRM's product portfolio.

• Provide guidance to Blockchain Intelligence and Data teams regarding data collection, sourcing, licensing, and the permissible use of first- and third-party data.

• Counsel on the development and deployment of AI/ML features, encompassing model training, data inputs and outputs, transparency, and evolving AI regulations.

• Advise on intellectual property ownership, licensing, and the use of open-source related to products.

• Draft and enhance terms of service, acceptable use policies, data terms, and customer-facing product documentation.

• Collaborate with Privacy Counsel on matters related to privacy, data protection, technical architectures, data flows, legal risks, data minimization, and regulatory compliance.

• Identify legal and regulatory risks while recommending practical solutions for mitigation.

• Develop scalable legal frameworks, playbooks, and self-service resources.

• Work alongside Legal team members on regulatory issues, commercial agreements, and special projects.

• Report to the Assistant General Counsel and engage in roadmap reviews, specification discussions, and launch readiness processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.

• Active bar membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

• 6–8 years of legal experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house at a technology company, with significant emphasis on product counseling.

• Proven experience advising Product and Engineering teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle.

• Familiarity with data usage and licensing, intellectual property, AI/ML, consumer-facing terms, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA.

• Strong commercial instincts and a capability to deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice.

• Ability to navigate ambiguous, cross-jurisdictional environments while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines with minimal oversight.

• Excellent communication skills and executive presence when engaging with senior stakeholders, external partners, and outside counsel.

• Comfort with AI tools and their integration into legal workflows.

• Experience advising firms that cater to government or financial institution clients is a bonus.

• Familiarity with blockchain, cryptocurrency, or fintech is advantageous.
