Senior Java Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Develop architectures, prototypes, and design proposals that align with business objectives and the vision of the product/platform.

• Shape technical direction through architecture evaluations, RFCs, design discussions, and collaborative hands-on efforts.

• Collaborate with senior developers, architects, and tech leads to define the product/platform architecture roadmap.

• Balance the speed of delivery with quality, maintainability, and the long-term health of the platform.

• Decompose large initiatives into manageable tasks that deliver incremental business value.

• Advocate for proposals throughout the SDLC, from design to production implementation.

• Enhance the core product build, CI/CD pipelines, and the overall software development lifecycle.

• Resolve ongoing production issues and foster reliability, observability, monitoring, and incident response.

• Maintain and develop technical documentation.

• Lead design discussions across different teams.

• Represent the team in technical discussions with stakeholders from technical, operations, product/UX, security, and external domains.

• Serve as a reliable technical leader through collaboration, influence, and shared ownership.

• Guide developers through design reviews, collaborative agentic-AI sessions, and skill feedback, including prompts and agent inputs.

• Disseminate knowledge of technologies and industry best practices.

• Assess emerging technologies, frameworks, and cloud capabilities.

• Integrate AI-assisted development tools into daily workflows.

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, security, and architectural compatibility.

• Identify and spearhead agentic automation initiatives and AI-assisted workflow implementations.

• Establish safe and effective practices and guardrails for AI tools.

• Construct and sustain distributed microservices and scalable cloud services.

• Define front-end architecture standards, including state management, component design, and design-system strategy.

• Collaborate with UX and Product teams to create scalable and accessible components.

• Mentor front-end engineers to enhance performance and accessibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of professional software development experience with a proven impact that extends beyond a single team.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and operating distributed, cloud-native, SaaS/multi-tenant platforms at scale, preferably on AWS.

• Solid understanding of software fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles, and advocacy for code quality.

• Experience with agentic-AI software development methodologies.

• Proficient in designing and utilizing HTTP APIs (REST, GraphQL, or similar).

• Proven experience in mentoring developers and influencing architectural decisions across teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at navigating ambiguity and evolving requirements.

• Strong drive to enhance processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality.

• Experience in building highly distributed microservice architectures using Java 25 and SpringBoot.

• In-depth expertise in Angular or an equivalent SPA framework and TypeScript.

• Proven experience in managing front-end architecture and design-system strategies at scale.

• Strong track record in accessibility (WCAG) and optimizing front-end performance.

• Must reside in Colombia.
