Senior Java Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, mainly using Java.

• Write high-quality production code as a fundamental aspect of daily tasks.

• Assist with Python services and codebases as needed.

• Engage with approximately three to four interconnected microservices.

• Make impactful technical and architectural decisions.

• Decompose complex requirements and guide their technical execution.

• Review code to establish robust engineering standards.

• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction without formal line-management duties.

• Collaborate with Product Owners to assess requirements, trade-offs, and delivery strategies.

• Develop and manage cloud-native services, primarily on AWS.

• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.

• Partner with DevOps engineers on CI/CD, deployment, scalability, and reliability.

• Leverage data, analytics, and operational insights to inform technical choices.

• Contribute to testing, documentation, and ongoing improvement throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Support the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and solutions as suitable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend engineering.

• Strong, recent, and hands-on commercial experience with Java.

• Proven track record in designing and developing microservices or distributed systems.

• Professional experience in contributing to production-level Python codebases.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud-native application architectures.

• Substantial hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs.

• Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Experience in influencing architecture or leading technical decisions.

• Capability to review code and mentor fellow engineers.

• Strong understanding of testing, maintainability, and production code quality.

• Comfortable managing multiple services and technical priorities simultaneously.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and product stakeholders.

• Professional working proficiency in English (C1+).
