Senior Java Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, predominantly using Java.

• Produce high-quality production code as an integral part of daily tasks.

• Contribute to Python services and codebases as needed.

• Collaborate across around three to four interconnected microservices.

• Make impactful technical and architectural decisions.

• Decompose complex requirements and oversee their technical execution.

• Review code and set robust engineering standards.

• Mentor engineers and offer technical direction without formal line-management duties.

• Partner with Product Owners to assess requirements, trade-offs, and delivery strategies.

• Develop and manage cloud-native services, primarily utilizing AWS.

• Deploy and operate containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.

• Collaborate with DevOps engineers on CI/CD, deployment, scalability, and reliability.

• Leverage data, analytics, and operational insights to inform technical decisions.

• Contribute to testing, documentation, and ongoing improvements throughout the SDLC.

• Promote the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and solutions when suitable.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend engineering.

• Strong, recent, and hands-on commercial experience with Java.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing microservices or distributed systems.

• Professional experience in contributing to production Python codebases.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud-native application architecture.

• Significant hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs.

• Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Experience in influencing architecture or leading technical decision-making.

• Ability to review code and mentor fellow engineers.

• Strong grasp of testing, maintainability, and production code quality.

• Comfortable managing multiple services and technical priorities concurrently.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and product stakeholders.

• Professional working proficiency in English (C1+).

• Familiarity with Azure in addition to AWS (preferred).

• Experience in building or integrating AI-enabled products (preferred).

• Knowledge of analytics, data processing, or event-driven systems (preferred).

• Experience in an international, distributed engineering environment (preferred).

• Previous experience supporting multiple engineering teams or product areas (preferred).
