Senior Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Create and implement high-performance microservices utilizing Java and Spring Boot

• Develop and sustain event-driven integrations with Apache Kafka

• Manage the data layer, encompassing schema design, query optimization, and PostgreSQL migrations

• Operate within a containerized cloud-native environment leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP

• Ensure code quality through reviews, adherence to testing standards, and CI/CD practices

• Guide team members and advocate for quality and ongoing enhancement

• Take ownership of features from requirements gathering through to production and beyond

• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to challenge assumptions and reach consensus on solutions

• Cultivate a deep understanding of product context, customer impact, and the rationale behind features

• Navigate a large organization, foster cross-team relationships, and execute initiatives

• Produce technical documentation, including System Design documents, RFCs, and ADRs

• Proactively identify and resolve technical debt

• Actively engage in architecture discussions with well-justified proposals

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional Java development experience

• Strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven patterns, and inter-service communication

• In-depth knowledge of JVM internals, including memory model, GC tuning, concurrency, and performance profiling

• Experience with Apache Kafka, covering producers, consumers, consumer groups, offset management, and error handling

• Proficiency in PostgreSQL, focusing on relational modeling, indexing strategies, query plans, and schema migrations

• Daily hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes

• Familiarity with Maven/Gradle, Git, JIRA, Confluence, code reviews, and CI/CD processes

• Proven capability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and create design documents

• English proficiency at B2+ level for effective team and stakeholder communication

• Ability to utilize AI tools and large language models, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude

• Skill in critically assessing AI-generated outputs and applying them responsibly in professional workflows

• Nice-to-have: Experience in Kotlin development

• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS, and Event Sourcing

• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with gRPC and GraphQL

• Nice-to-have: Experience with GCP Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Cloud Spanner

• Nice-to-have: Knowledge of MongoDB
