Senior Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design and develop high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot

• Create and manage event-driven integrations with Apache Kafka

• Take ownership of the data layer, focusing on schema design, query optimization, migrations, and PostgreSQL

• Operate within a containerized cloud-native environment utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP

• Ensure code quality through rigorous code reviews, adherence to testing standards, and CI/CD practices

• Mentor team members while fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement

• Manage features from inception through to production and beyond

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to question assumptions and reach consensus on solutions

• Grasp the product's business context, customer impact, and rationale for features

• Navigate a large organization, building connections across teams to deliver results

• Produce technical documentation such as System Design documents, RFCs, and ADRs

• Proactively identify and mitigate technical debt

• Engage in architectural discussions, presenting well-reasoned proposals

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in Java development

• Proficiency in Java 11/17+

• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Security, and JPA/Hibernate

• Extensive background in distributed systems, microservices, event-driven architectures, and inter-service communication

• In-depth knowledge of JVM internals, including memory model, GC tuning, concurrency, and performance profiling

• Familiarity with Apache Kafka: producers, consumers, consumer groups, offset management, and error handling

• Expertise in PostgreSQL: relational modeling, indexing strategies, query plans, and schema migrations

• Practical experience in using Docker and Kubernetes in production

• Knowledge of Maven/Gradle, Git, JIRA, Confluence, code reviews, and CI/CD processes

• Capability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and produce clear design documentation

• English proficiency at B2+ level for team and stakeholder interactions

• Ability to leverage AI tools and large language models like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude

• Skill in critically assessing AI-generated outputs and applying them responsibly in professional settings

• Nice-to-have: Experience in Kotlin development

• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, Event Sourcing, gRPC, GraphQL, GCP services, MongoDB, high-throughput/low-latency systems, and experience in e-commerce, logistics, or fintech
