This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and manage API endpoints, middleware, and platform services using Go.
• Design and enhance the API gateway layer, focusing on routing, authentication, rate limiting, and request/response transformation.
• Create and uphold API contracts by utilizing OpenAPI and gRPC specifications.
• Notify internal consumers of significant API modifications.
• Support service reliability through monitoring, alerting, SLA tracking, and incident management for platform APIs.
• Produce clear, reviewable code accompanied by tests that cover both successful scenarios and failure conditions.
• Partner with Data Ingestion, Integrations Platform, and Client Platform teams.
• Assist in developing the internal API layer that connects NodeZero services and facilitates customer and integration interfaces.
• Engage in API consolidation, versioning, rate limiting, and observability efforts.
• Report directly to the API Platform Engineering Manager.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, specifically in building production backend services.
• Proficiency in Go or a strong willingness to learn quickly; Go is the primary programming language.
• Comprehensive understanding of REST API design principles and HTTP semantics.
• Capability to analyze latency, error rates, retry mechanisms, and circuit breaking.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-based environments, including deployment, debugging, and understanding service interactions.
• Experience with containerized development workflows utilizing Docker.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, API keys, and JWT authentication patterns.
• Ability to write clear, reviewable code with significant testing.
• Competence in communicating obstacles early and seeking assistance when needed.
• Comfortable working asynchronously within a distributed team.
• Experience with gRPC is an advantage.
• Familiarity with API gateway technologies like Kong, Envoy, NGINX, or cloud-native alternatives is a plus.
• Exposure to service mesh architectures such as Istio or Linkerd is a plus.
• Background in cybersecurity or experience in developing APIs for security tools is a bonus.
• Experience with gRPC and protobuf-defined service contracts is advantageous.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
