Senior Java Engineer, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency Java microservices for management and provisioning systems within the telecom network.

• Construct and deploy production-quality machine learning models, including LLMs, predictive analytics, and anomaly detection, to process network traffic data and call detail records.

• Incorporate AI functionalities into Java-based billing, customer care, and orchestration platforms utilizing REST APIs and messaging queues such as Kafka/RabbitMQ.

• Enhance the performance of Java applications for real-time data processing in a 5G/cloud-native environment.

• Create and refine retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines for internal knowledge bases and customer support chatbots.

• Collaborate with data engineers to establish network telemetry data pipelines for AI applications.

• Lead the assessment and selection of AI frameworks and integrate these with the current Java technology stack.

• Conduct code reviews, uphold SOLID principles, and ensure that AI logic remains explainable and auditable for regulatory compliance.

• Monitor model drift and the performance of production systems, implementing automated retraining and fallback strategies.

• Engage in proposal submissions, business alignment, verification, client skills evaluations, and technical assessment processes as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience with a strong emphasis on Java.

• Practical experience in developing and deploying AI/ML models within a production setting.

• Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers.

• In-depth knowledge of telecom data structures, including CDRs, network logs, and SNMP/NetFlow metrics.

• Strong expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra, or TimescaleDB.

• Experience in deploying AI models in containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).

• Proficient in building and consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs.

• Solid understanding of OAuth2/OIDC security protocols.

• Familiarity with MLOps tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, or Weights & Biases.

• Knowledge of concurrent programming, thread safety, and JVM garbage collection tuning.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to translate complex network issues into algorithmic solutions.

• Availability to work within CET ± 2 hours.

• B2B contract outside IR35.
