Senior Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belarus, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and take full ownership of Spring Boot microservices and Web APIs, from the data model to deployment on Kubernetes.

• Assume complete responsibility for features, encompassing schemas, services, API contracts, testing, pipelines, and production behavior.

• Leverage AI assistance throughout the design, implementation, refactoring, testing, and code review processes while remaining accountable for integrated code.

• Establish the team’s practices for AI-assisted engineering, including review gates, guardrails, and onboarding methodologies.

• Collaborate with engineers on complex challenges and share relevant context.

• Contribute to architectural decisions regarding service boundaries, communication methods, and data ownership.

• Manage GitLab and Jenkins pipelines, testing suites, container builds, and Terraform-based infrastructure.

• Conduct code reviews.

• Work closely with product, QA, and DevOps teams to convert ambiguous requirements into deployable solutions.

• Set the technical direction and provide mentorship to engineers in a leadership capacity.

• The engagement is expected to last until the end of the year, with a strong likelihood of extension.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound knowledge of Java 11 and Java 17, covering concurrency, collections, memory behavior, and modern language features.

• Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework and Spring Boot, including dependency injection, configuration, Spring Data, Spring Security, REST controllers, and testing support.

• Experience in designing, versioning, documenting, and evolving HTTP Web APIs.

• Familiarity with microservice architecture, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, resilience patterns, and data ownership.

• SQL and relational data modeling expertise with PostgreSQL and MySQL, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and migrations.

• Experience in automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, and integration tests.

• Proficient with Maven for build and dependency management.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure as code practices.

• CI/CD experience utilizing GitLab and Jenkins.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted software development.

• Willingness to engage in pair programming.

• Strong communication skills with experience working in cross-functional teams.

• Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher.
