Senior Java Backend Engineer – WCS Migration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a team to transition functionalities and data from WCS as the primary source of truth.

• Design and sustain backend services utilizing Java and Spring/Spring Boot.

• Engage with MongoDB in the intended backend architecture.

• Examine and navigate the current WCS codebase to comprehend business logic, integrations, and dependencies.

• Offer technical expertise regarding WCS infrastructure and architecture.

• Assist with the build, deployment, and release processes of WCS.

• Diagnose WCS environments and resolve infrastructure/application challenges.

• Facilitate access, configuration, and environment management across WCS.

• Identify and transition pertinent functionalities from WCS into the new Java/Spring/MongoDB stack.

• Partner with engineering, architecture, and DevOps teams throughout the migration process.

• Enhance build, deployment, and operational procedures.

• Aid in minimizing dependency on WCS and facilitate the shift to the new platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Senior Java Backend Engineer.

• Practical expertise with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.

• Significant experience with MongoDB or comparable NoSQL databases.

• Strong hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Commerce (WCS) is crucial.

• Solid understanding of WCS infrastructure and environments.

• Proficient in navigating and troubleshooting extensive WCS codebases.

• Strong comprehension of WCS build and deployment methodologies.

• Experience in managing or troubleshooting WCS access and environment configuration.

• Background in working with complex enterprise e-commerce platforms.

• Capability to grasp legacy systems and assist in their migration to contemporary architectures.

• Nice to have: familiarity with Microsoft Azure.

• Nice to have: experience with DevOps / CI/CD.

• Nice to have: knowledge of Azure DevOps, pipelines, and deployment automation.

• Nice to have: experience with containerization and Kubernetes.

• Nice to have: background in e-commerce / retail environments.

• Nice to have: experience in migrating legacy commerce platforms to modern microservices architectures.
