Backend Engineer – Django, AI & Algorithmic Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend services and APIs utilizing Python, Django, and DRF or similar frameworks.

• Model and enhance domain data through clean database schemas and relationships.

• Implement algorithmic and AI functionalities, including scoring, ranking, routing, and decision-making rules.

• Produce production-ready backend code.

• Enhance query efficiency, indexing, caching, and response performance.

• Convert product concepts into technical designs and endpoints.

• Assist in defining engineering patterns, conventions, and shipping processes.

• Take ownership of core backend features from start to finish in collaboration with a distributed team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building backend applications with Python and Django.

• Strong grasp of relational data modeling and SQL.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL.

• Proficient in designing and developing RESTful APIs.

• Experience dealing with complex business logic or algorithms.

• Knowledge of query behavior, performance optimization, indexing, and caching.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, working quickly, and iterating based on real-world feedback.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and communicate effectively.

• Experience in startups, personal projects, or hackathons is a plus.

• Background in algorithms, optimization, or data-intensive systems is advantageous.

• Production experience with Google Cloud Platform is a bonus.

• Familiarity with Redis and PostgreSQL at scale is a bonus.

• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and/or serverless architecture on GCP is a bonus.
