Senior Java Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Develop, construct, and sustain backend services, APIs, and essential platform components utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Take ownership of intricate technical challenges from conception to production.

• Guide scalable solution designs and play a key role in architectural decisions involving databases, caching, messaging, and distributed systems.

• Enhance services for optimal performance, scalability, security, and resilience against faults.

• Establish standards for code quality, testing, observability, and documentation.

• Provide mentorship to Junior and Semi-Senior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.

• Address incidents, conduct root-cause analyses, and pinpoint opportunities for refactoring and reducing technical debt.

• Leverage AI-powered development tools to enhance delivery speed, code quality, and team productivity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot, including the broader Spring ecosystem (Spring Data, Spring Web).

• A solid understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, concurrency, and scalability patterns.

• Familiarity with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL.

• Proficient in designing and consuming REST APIs with appropriate error handling, versioning, and documentation.

• A consistent practice of testing, including unit and integration tests (JUnit).

• Practical knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker.

• A readiness and capability to mentor peers and enhance the technical standards of the team.

• Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.

• Bonus: experience with cloud platforms (AWS), observability stacks (Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry), event-driven architectures or messaging technologies (Kafka), and regular use of AI coding assistants.
