Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist, Proxmox, Containers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Plan, construct, and enhance Proxmox-based private cloud infrastructures.

• Transition existing VMware and other virtualization setups to Proxmox.

• Develop and manage Kubernetes platforms, especially utilizing Rancher and RKE2.

• Create highly available infrastructure and storage solutions, such as Ceph.

• Automate infrastructure processes using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD methodologies.

• Provide guidance to clients on private cloud, hybrid cloud, and contemporary infrastructure.

• Evaluate current environments and devise appropriate target architectures.

• Assist in technical workshops, migrations, and proof of concept initiatives.

• Document architectural designs and technical decisions made.

• Assume responsibility for architectural choices, technical standards, or team development, based on experience.

• Collaborate closely with clients and the engineering team.

• Support clients throughout the entire process, from architecture and migration to technical implementation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Proxmox VE and Ceph.

• Strong Linux proficiency.

• Solid foundational understanding of virtualization, networking, and storage principles.

• Basic knowledge of containers and containerized applications.

• Comprehensive IT infrastructure knowledge.

• Ability to work independently and in a structured manner.

• Enthusiasm for tackling technical challenges alongside clients.

• Excellent German and proficient English language skills.

• Motivation and interest in expanding expertise in Kubernetes, Rancher, RKE2, distributed storage systems, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, Ansible, Azure, AWS, VMware-to-Proxmox migrations, highly available private cloud architectures, backup and disaster recovery strategies, network setups, VPNs, firewalls, VLANs, and monitoring tools.
