Senior Integration Engineer – Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and sustain dependable system integrations and technical infrastructure that support essential business operations.

• Develop and manage scripts, services, and scheduled interfaces that facilitate data exchange with hospitals, HIEs, payers, and partners.

• Oversee interfaces and address failed, delayed, or rejected transactions to ensure confirmed delivery.

• Initiate integrations from specifications and testing through to cutover and documentation.

• Manage source control and oversee builds, releases, backups, and tested rollback procedures.

• Guide the transition to Git, automated builds, and CI/CD practices.

• Configure, secure, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot customer-hosted Linux systems.

• Maintain storage, capacity, backups, disaster recovery measures, certificates, credentials, and system performance.

• Support various Linux distributions and lead migrations from end-of-life operating systems.

• Collaborate directly with customer IT and security teams during maintenance, implementations, incidents, and go-lives.

• Engage in an on-call rotation and scheduled after-hours maintenance.

• Create comprehensive inventories, runbooks, and technical documentation.

• Utilize Claude Code daily for scripting, code review, legacy code analysis, and documentation, ensuring all output is validated.

• Document interfaces and customer environments during the initial months of engagement.

• Establish a repeatable release process, verify backups, enhance monitoring, and evaluate systems that require modernization.

• Operate under HIPAA regulations while managing Protected Health Information.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Linux systems administration, DevOps, or systems/integration engineering within a production environment where system uptime is crucial.

• Strong systems thinking abilities and sound technical judgment.

• Capability to independently navigate complex technical challenges.

• Excellent written communication skills for documentation, specifications, technical handoffs, and correspondence.

• Ability to prioritize competing technical demands effectively.

• Proficient in Bash/POSIX shell scripting, including error handling, logging, and ensuring idempotent behavior.

• Extensive experience with Red Hat-family Linux distributions including RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, or Oracle Linux.

• Familiarity with storage, permissions, systemd, SysV services, yum/dnf, cron, networking, firewalls, SELinux, SSH, package management, logging, and performance troubleshooting.

• Experience managing customer-owned on-premises servers or cloud environments through customer-managed access tools, including MFA and jump hosts.

• Experience adhering to customer change-control processes.

• Proficient in operating unattended data interfaces using SFTP/FTPS, HTTPS/REST, curl or equivalent tools, along with certificates and credentials.

• Experienced with administering version-control repositories and possess strong Git skills.

• Background in build and release management, including compiling and linking C applications on Linux, working with makefiles, and overseeing controlled production deployments.

• Working knowledge of TLS/PKI and secure secrets management.

• Ability to work within a large, long-standing legacy codebase with limited documentation.

• Willingness to utilize Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools on a daily basis.

• Capability to critically assess AI-generated work and take responsibility for delivered work.

• Willingness to partake in an on-call rotation and carry out scheduled maintenance outside standard business hours.

• Ability to adhere to HIPAA regulations and successfully pass a background check.
