This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Lead project initiatives in instrumentation and controls engineering and design for diverse mining projects.

• Act as the principal I&C engineer or discipline lead on medium to large-scale projects.

• Oversee and guide team members on designs, specifications, drawings, figures, reports, and calculations.

• Create instrumentation and controls engineering and design solutions tailored for mining clients.

• Draft project proposals and contribute to the growth of the Mining department.

• Guide and mentor technical personnel.

• Develop technical scopes of work and specifications.

• Design and review P&IDs, including instrumenting P&IDs and incorporating control and interlock notes.

• Prepare data sheets, architecture drawings, functional descriptions, instrument indexes, loop sheets, interconnection diagrams, instrument location plans, I/O lists, and cable schedules.

• Offer specialized technical insights and expertise for studies and design projects.

• Convey complex technical solutions to clients.

• Carry out independent technical reviews of engineering documentation and approve completed work.

• Create equipment bid packages, evaluate bids, manage purchase orders, and review vendor drawings.

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients and foster client relationships.

• Plan, schedule, execute, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering projects.

• Advise clients on engineering issues, including adherence to governmental laws and regulations.

• Attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office as a prerequisite for employment.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering plus 8 years of pertinent experience or proven equivalency of experience and/or education.

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

• PE license in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Arizona, or capability to obtain a PE in those states.

• Over 10 years of relevant hands-on field experience in commissioning and start-up of facilities.

• MSHA Miner training certification.

• Background in I&C engineering, design, and construction activities.

• Experience in HAZOP participation.

• Conducted human factors reviews.

• SIL verification experience.

• Expertise in valve, flow element, and relief valve sizing.

• Proficient in control system architecture development.

• Skilled in developing control system I/O and instrument lists.

• Knowledgeable in instrument and control element specifications and data sheets.

• Familiar with DCS and PLC specifications.

• Experienced in DCS and PLC wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and network diagrams.

• Capable of developing control narratives, logic diagrams, and functional control diagrams.

• Understanding of electrical equipment designs and wiring, including switchgear, panelboards, MCCs, and VFDs.

• Ability to interpret and contribute to P&IDs.

• Progressive project experience with task leadership and project management in design and design-build projects.

• Competent in leading designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, I&C specifications, and final working drawings.

• Experience collaborating with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings.

• Strong written and verbal communication, quantitative, and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated strong work ethic and professional demeanor.

• Proactive in assignments.

• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and manage multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.

• Skilled in estimating and defining scope for I&C deliverables and project tasks.

• Capacity to perform work within established scope, budget, and schedule.

• Proficient in tracking and managing task budgets, schedules, and projects.

• Expertise in authoring reports and preparing or directing detailed calculation packages with appropriate documentation and references.

• Resourceful, highly organized, professional, and detail-oriented.

• Willingness to travel to domestic and international project sites.
