
Senior II Software Engineer – Linux Kernel Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Create new functionalities to enhance the performance, reliability, and security of the Akamai Cloud Platform.
• Transition Akamai modifications to the latest versions of the Linux kernel.
• Diagnose and resolve issues within intricate testing and production environments.
• Improve build and testing automation for Continuous Testing processes.
• Collaborate with teams in platform, application development, testing, and hardware development.
• Engage with the open-source community to contribute upstream.
• Keep abreast of changes in the upstream Linux kernel, operating system updates, and rising industry trends.
• Construct, maintain, and enhance Akamai's tailored Linux kernel.
• Minimum of 8 years of pertinent experience.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
• Over 3 years of software development experience in C, concentrating on Linux kernel development.
• Proficiency in Perl, Python, or Shell scripting.
• Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals.
• Experience in Linux kernel debugging.
• Familiarity with at least two of the following: memory management, filesystems, block IO, TCP/IP stack, KVM.
• Knowledge of x86 and ARM CPU architectures.
• Competence in concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, and network protocols such as TCP/UDP/IP, Ethernet, QUIC, and HTTP/TLS.
