This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Lead or assist in hydrogeology, mine water, groundwater, and environmental initiatives.
• Plan, oversee, and analyze field investigations, which include drilling, installation of monitoring wells, sampling of groundwater and surface water, aquifer tests, and hydraulic assessments.
• Analyze data from monitoring and testing to create conceptual hydrogeologic models.
• Develop, implement, or review models for groundwater flow and contaminant transport.
• Evaluate hydrogeologic, geochemical, and environmental data.
• Prepare technical documentation, including reports, presentations, proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and work plans.
• Manage technical assignments or projects, overseeing schedules, budgets, deliverables, and quality standards.
• Convey technical results to clients, regulators, project teams, and various stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor junior and intermediate personnel.
• Contribute to client relationships, proposal crafting, and the expansion of ITASCA North America’s hydrogeology practice.
• Travel for client meetings, site assessments, field programs, conferences, and internal collaborations as necessary.
• Advanced degree in hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 10–20 years of pertinent professional experience.
• Demonstrated technical expertise and sound professional judgment in hydrogeology or a related domain.
• Professional registration from a recognized body, or the ability to obtain registration where necessary.
• Experience in hydrogeologic field investigations, groundwater monitoring, aquifer or hydraulic testing, and data analysis.
• Proficiency in developing or interpreting conceptual hydrogeologic models.
• Familiarity with groundwater flow and/or contaminant transport modeling.
• Strong skills in technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation.
• Capability to independently manage complex tasks while overseeing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Experience in supervising or mentoring technical staff.
• Ability to assist in proposals, work programs, and client development.
• Experience in the mining industry, particularly in mine water management, pit dewatering, depressurization, seepage, closure, water balance, permitting, or operational hydrogeology.
• Knowledge in contaminant hydrogeology, aqueous geochemistry, groundwater/surface water interaction, water supply, or remediation.
• Proficient in using MODFLOW, FEFLOW, MINEDW, MT3D, or other transport modeling software, GIS, or data analysis tools.
• Experience in supporting environmental impact assessments, permitting, regulatory engagement, or closure planning.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in hydrogeology, geomechanics, engineering geology, geochemistry, data science, and numerical modeling.
