Senior Gameplay Engineer

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, architecture, and execution of essential gameplay AI systems.

• Steer the technical direction for NPC gameplay systems and AI frameworks.

• Take ownership of large-scale AI features from initial concept to final implementation.

• Identify and address performance, scalability, and technical design issues across gameplay systems.

• Collaborate closely with Design, Animation, Audio, and Production teams to define and pursue AI feature objectives.

• Provide technical leadership and direction across cross-functional gameplay initiatives.

• Assist in establishing engineering standards and enhancing team-wide AI development processes.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional experience in gameplay/AI engineering.

• Demonstrated experience taking ownership of significant gameplay or AI systems within a production setting.

• Proficient in architecting and implementing AI simulation systems and features from the ground up, utilizing a mix of C++, Blueprints, and other tools.

• Comprehensive understanding of industry-standard gameplay AI simulation systems, techniques, and frameworks (e.g., Behavior Trees, FSMs, Utility AI).

• Proven ability to collaborate with designers, artists, and audio developers to iterate and refine essential AI behaviors and system adjustments.

• Capability to take charge of major systems, manage development timelines, and lead significant implementation tasks.

• Extensive experience with Unreal Engine, including using and understanding various gameplay AI authoring tools, as well as modifying and creating custom technology to enhance the base engine feature set.

• Familiarity with animation techniques for AI characters (e.g., Animation Blueprints, Montages, Control Rig, Motion Matching).

• Self-motivated and proactive, eager to contribute in areas beyond direct responsibilities.

• A strong commitment to delivering high-quality and finely-tuned game experiences.

• Experience in mentoring and supporting fellow engineers through code reviews, technical advice, and best practices, ensuring alignment with the overall vision of the game.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
