This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Adapt and port indie-developed games for launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
• Fulfill platform-specific technical and certification criteria.
• Design and implement game features, mechanics, and interactive experiences.
• Construct, adjust, and sustain game projects utilizing GameMaker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, or comparable platforms.
• Convert game ideas and requirements into functional gameplay experiences.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and well-organized code.
• Identify, test, and resolve gameplay, technical, performance, and console-specific issues.
• Collaborate with designers, artists, indie developer partners, and other team members.
• Integrate game assets, animations, audio, UI elements, and other components.
• Enhance gameplay and technical performance for console hardware.
• Review and assess games developed by others, offering technical and design feedback.
• Engage in testing, iteration, and refinement based on feedback and platform certification needs.
• Maintain documentation and provide regular updates on the porting and development status.
• Demonstrated experience in porting or adapting games for console platforms (PlayStation and/or Xbox), or substantial game development experience with a proven ability to learn console porting and certification processes.
• Strong familiarity with PlayStation consoles (required).
• Familiarity with Xbox consoles (preferred).
• Experience with, or exposure to, the PlayStation Partners or ID@Xbox developer programs (preferred but not mandatory).
• Proficiency in GameMaker Studio 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, or a similar game development platform.
• Knowledge of GML (GameMaker Language), C#, and/or Python.
• Solid understanding of gameplay mechanics, game systems, debugging, and optimization.
• Experience in taking game features from concept through development, testing, and refinement.
• Capability to work with existing codebases, often created by other developers, and contribute to ongoing projects.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in reviewing or evaluating games or code developed by other developers, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
• A portfolio, GitHub profile, playable game, or examples of prior game development or porting work is highly desirable.
• Availability to work from 9AM to 1PM Sydney Time.
