Senior Fullstack Software Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain production backend services utilizing Python and FastAPI.

• Create and enhance systems that manage automated evaluations of third-party software products.

• Develop long-running background processes and durable workflows that are resumable, reliable, and observable.

• Integrate with third-party APIs and systems, managing aspects such as authentication, rate limiting, retries, partial failures, and evolving external contracts.

• Build and refine browser-driven automation workflows when APIs are either unavailable or inadequate.

• Instrument evaluation workflows to ensure that results and failures are measurable, reproducible, traceable, and easy to diagnose.

• Analyze evaluation outcomes and continuously enhance configurations, fidelity, and coverage.

• Design scalable, maintainable, observable, and production-ready solutions.

• Build, test, and maintain containerized applications deployed through established CI/CD and Kubernetes environments.

• Leverage AI-assisted and agentic software engineering tools throughout planning, development, testing, and maintenance processes.

• Take ownership of ambiguous technical requirements from discovery and design to implementation, testing, and production release.

• Identify inadequate technical patterns and propose new solutions as needed.

• Collaborate with data science, engineering, and product stakeholders.

• Provide engineering insights during technical discovery, scoping, and prioritization efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong professional experience in building production backend applications with Python.

• Hands-on experience with FastAPI or a similar modern Python web framework.

• Experience in building and maintaining background job systems, workflow orchestration, or durable execution systems such as DBOS, Temporal, Airflow, Celery, Prefect, AWS Step Functions, or similar.

• Solid understanding of idempotency, retries, failure recovery, and long-running stateful workflows.

• Proven experience in integrating with third-party APIs and external systems, including authentication and resilience to upstream failures.

• Experience in designing, testing, and operating production-quality distributed or backend systems.

• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes-based deployments.

• Ability to understand and work effectively with established CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong experience in testing, observability, logging, and distributed tracing.

• Capability to work autonomously in the face of ambiguous requirements and independently drive technical discovery and implementation.

• Effective use of AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools in daily software delivery.

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and system design.

• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate directly with US-based client teams and stakeholders operating in US Central Time.

• Nice to have: Experience with browser automation frameworks such as Playwright, Puppeteer, or Selenium.

• Nice to have: Experience in designing reliable headed and headless browser automation and managing flaky automation workflows.

• Nice to have: Exposure to AI or agent evaluation methodologies, including evaluation harnesses, benchmark design, LLM-as-judge approaches, or agent trajectory analysis.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with AI evaluation frameworks such as τ²-bench (tau2-bench).

• Nice to have: Experience working with DBOS or Temporal for durable workflow execution.

• Nice to have: Hands-on experience with Argo CD or other GitOps-based deployment strategies.

• Nice to have: Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes environments on AWS.

• Nice to have: Experience developing product functionality using frontier AI models, including prompting, context management, tool usage, and model reasoning.

• Nice to have: Familiarity with the AI agent, LLM, or AI developer tooling ecosystem.

• Nice to have: Interest in understanding, evaluating, and enhancing how agent-based software performs in real-world scenarios.
