Senior Full Stack Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and established software engineering methodologies.

• Create modern web applications employing React, TypeScript, reusable components, responsive layouts, and accessible interaction patterns.

• Develop and consume REST APIs with an API-first mindset.

• Maintain clear OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and implement error handling effectively.

• Architect modular, maintainable solutions using microservices along with object-oriented and event-driven design patterns.

• Utilize Node.js for lightweight services, backend-for-frontend components, integrations, or development tools.

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL data models and queries for efficiency.

• Implement integrations with both internal and external systems using REST APIs, webhooks, messaging, and various integration patterns.

• Containerize applications and contribute to cloud deployment strategies, configuration management, and ensuring environment consistency.

• Build and maintain Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines featuring automated testing, quality gates, and repeatable deployment processes.

• Instrument applications with structured logging, metrics, tracing, and actionable error reporting.

• Troubleshoot functional and production issues while enhancing application performance, resilience, scalability, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and fellow engineers through design sessions, code reviews, planning, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of full-stack software development experience, including managing production applications.

• Strong practical experience with Java and Spring technologies, especially Spring Boot, REST services, persistence, security, and automated testing.

• Solid frontend development background with Angular or React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, component-based design, state management, and modern testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with Node.js for lightweight services, integrations, build tools, or supporting components.

• Proven track record in designing REST APIs, microservices, and maintainable applications within distributed environments.

• Strong SQL expertise and experience in designing efficient data models in PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.

• Experience in developing, deploying, or supporting cloud-based and containerized applications.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation and lead client-facing workshops.

• Knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, and secure API design principles.

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging and event-streaming technologies.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, observability tools, and secure software delivery practices.
