Senior Full Stack Engineer, Platform Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain a scalable, cloud-native platform based on AWS.

• Establish architectural patterns and API contracts that integrate various domain services into the BAWP UI.

• Assess feature requests, provide effort assessments, and lead sprint and technical planning.

• Conduct peer code and design reviews.

• Architect and create secure full-stack solutions using React/TypeScript alongside AWS-native services.

• Create APIs and data integration layers that aggregate content from upstream domains.

• Develop reusable front-end components and shared modules within the BAWP Shell utilizing micro-frontends or similar technologies.

• Implement cloud-native architectures using AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions, SQS/SNS, ECS, and CloudWatch.

• Ensure adherence to standards for automation, observability, scalability, security, availability, and reliability.

• Integrate monitoring, telemetry, and operational readiness into platform components.

• Take ownership of and enhance automated end-to-end and UI testing frameworks using Playwright.

• Drive performance enhancements across API integration and rendering layers.

• Tackle complex technical challenges and refine system design.

• Mentor and support engineers in development, testing, and system design best practices.

• Assess and introduce valuable cloud, front-end, and test automation technologies.

• Communicate technical strategies, tradeoffs, and architectural decisions to both engineering and business stakeholders.

• Collaborate with product, operations, security, QA, and domain teams.

• Lead initiatives focused on testing, monitoring, reliability, documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in designing, building, and supporting scalable, cloud-native full-stack applications.

• More than 3 years of experience in developing modern front-end applications with TypeScript and React.

• Strong practical experience with Node.js, preferably TypeScript, in building APIs and data integration layers.

• Extensive experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, S3, Step Functions, EC2, ECS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and DynamoDB.

• Familiarity with Backstage and GitHub Actions.

• Experience in integrating and consolidating data from multiple independent backend/domain services into a unified UI.

• In-depth knowledge of distributed cloud infrastructure and microservices architecture.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation.

• Proven experience in building responsive, secure, high-performance UIs using React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Understanding of micro-frontend architectures, such as Module Federation.

• Experience with automated end-to-end and UI testing frameworks along with CI/CD pipeline integration.

• Strong emphasis on scalability, data integrity, reliability, and quality engineering.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to present ideas in a business-friendly manner and mentor engineers.

• Capacity to prioritize and lead initiatives in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
