Senior Full Stack Engineer – Backend Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable backend services utilizing Python and AWS Lambda.

• Create, maintain, and enhance RESTful APIs that support cloud-based applications and integrations.

• Assess technical requirements and provide high-quality solutions with minimal oversight.

• Independently evaluate existing systems, comprehend business needs, and execute solutions without extensive technical guidance.

• Develop software in accordance with established architectural standards and engineering best practices.

• Debug, troubleshoot, optimize, and sustain production systems.

• Work closely with frontend engineers to ensure reliable APIs and comprehensive functionality.

• Engage in code reviews and proactively identify technical enhancements and risks.

• Anticipate architectural issues, potential blockers, and opportunities for improvement before they affect project delivery.

• Contribute to frontend development utilizing Vue.js as part of a full-stack engineering team.

• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to clarify technical requirements early and ensure successful implementation.

• Effectively communicate with technical stakeholders and support continuous improvement initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 6 years of professional experience as a Full Stack Engineer, Backend Engineer, or Software Engineer.

• Extensive professional experience in building and maintaining backend applications using Python.

• Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.

• Strong grasp of software architecture, layered application design, and software engineering best practices.

• Experience in building serverless applications with AWS Lambda.

• Familiarity with MongoDB.

• Experience contributing to frontend development using Vue.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend frameworks.

• Proficient debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills.

• Experience working with Git and Agile development methodologies.

• Ability to quickly comprehend existing codebases, identify technical risks, troubleshoot independently, and effectively contribute within established architectures without needing continuous guidance.

• Capability to make informed technical decisions, ask pertinent questions early, and proactively resolve blockers before they affect delivery.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to independently understand existing codebases, business requirements, and technical documentation.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

• Advanced proficiency in English.

• Nice to have: Experience with AWS API Gateway.

• Nice to have: Experience with Serverless Framework or AWS SAM.

• Nice to have: Experience with Auth0 or Amazon Cognito.

• Nice to have: Experience with WebSockets or other real-time communication protocols.

• Nice to have: Experience using JetBrains IDEs (PyCharm or IntelliJ).
