Senior Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack applications that deliver high-value information to customers.

• Develop backend services and APIs utilizing Kotlin/Java, Spring, and related technologies.

• Create modern frontend experiences using React, Vite, and TypeScript.

• Implement component architecture, state management, asynchronous data-fetching, accessibility, and rendering performance best practices.

• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, and large datasets.

• Engage in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, design sessions, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional client experiences.

• Contribute to code reviews, technical design, engineering standards, and enhancements to team practices.

• Leverage AI to comprehend codebases, research technologies, plan implementations, write and modify code, develop tests, debug, refactor, and automate repetitive tasks.

• For senior-level candidates, take ownership of systems from design to production, diagnose distributed system issues, and mentor fellow engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience for mid-level candidates or 6+ years for senior-level candidates.

• Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering, demonstrated through a CS-related degree or equivalent professional experience.

• High proficiency in Kotlin and Java.

• Experience in building server-side applications using Spring or a similar framework.

• Strong ability to develop React/Vite applications with TypeScript.

• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, query languages, and data best practices.

• Knowledge of HTTP, REST, and API design and development.

• Familiarity with state management and asynchronous data-fetching patterns such as TanStack Query.

• Attention to frontend component architecture and rendering performance.

• Working knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG/ARIA.

• Experience with automated testing, including unit and integration/end-to-end testing.

• Proficient with Git or other source control software.

• Regular meaningful use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar coding agents.

• Ability to critically assess and validate AI-generated solutions.

• Preferred experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD, Elasticsearch, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, Linux, Bash, or large-scale applications.

• For senior-level candidates: strong system design and architectural judgment; ownership of systems throughout production; evaluation of scalability, reliability, performance, maintainability, security, and cost; distributed systems diagnosis; technical planning; code and design reviews; mentoring.
