Senior Frontend Engineer, React

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the frontend architecture and implementation of the product using React and TypeScript, covering everything from shared components and application structure to production workflows.

• Convert product designs and interactive prototypes into user experiences that are ready for production.

• Collaborate closely with product and backend engineers to ensure alignment on design, workflow, and data requirements.

• Manage frontend patterns for intricate multi-step workflows, which include forms, conditional logic, validation, autosave, resume capabilities, loading states, error handling, and recovery.

• Work in partnership with the Senior Backend API Engineer to establish API contracts, data structures, error handling processes, and delineate client/server responsibilities.

• Create a robust component architecture, state-management patterns, routing, form strategies, and frontend conventions.

• Develop secure, role-aware experiences tailored for clients and attorneys.

• Incorporate AI-driven capabilities into product workflows and design their user-facing elements.

• Be responsible for frontend performance, accessibility, responsive design, browser compatibility, and overall production quality.

• Implement testing practices for essential components and user workflows.

• Review code, establish frontend standards, and offer technical guidance to frontend developers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing React and TypeScript applications featuring complex user workflows.

• Background in establishing frontend architecture for products with significant application state and extensive backend service integration.

• In-depth knowledge of component architecture, state management, forms, routing, and sustainable frontend patterns.

• Experience in creating multi-step or workflow-oriented applications that include validation, conditional logic, data persistence, recovery, and clear error states.

• Familiarity with frontend authentication processes and role-aware interfaces, including controls enforced by backend services.

• Proven ability to collaborate with backend engineers in defining API contracts and data structures.

• Strong practices in accessibility, responsive design, browser compatibility, and frontend performance.

• Experience with automated frontend testing for critical components and user workflows.

• Capability to review code, set frontend standards, and provide technical mentorship to other frontend developers.

• Ability to independently serve as the Senior Frontend React Engineer on a greenfield product while making informed architectural decisions.

• Preferred: Experience in designing frontend experiences for AI-driven workflows.

• Preferred: Experience in developing payment, client intake, or other state-sensitive workflows.

• Preferred: Experience handling sensitive client data or working within a regulated environment.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating closely with product and design teams to translate prototypes into production-ready applications.

• Preferred: Background in the legal industry or legal technology sector.
